Another Great Vintage Find!!

Just a quick post today. I wanted to share this great find by my hubby. He stumbled upon this vintage case when he was at a car swap meet. He knew I would love it! It's by US Trunk Company which changed its name in 1950 so I'm guessing it's older than that. Hopefully I can find some more info online. I would love to know the history behind this piece :) I'm not sure how I will use it....may use it to store my growing supply of lace! Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend!

Handmade Fall Daybook

Wow! What a relaxing and quiet weekend! Hubby had to work and the kids kept themselves busy AND quiet! Woohoo! This allowed me to enjoy some much needed mommy crafty time! :)

I have been wanting to try making a daybook for some time now. I belong to group over at Facebook called Daybook Delights ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/daybookdelights/ ), the group was inspired by the very cute Amy Tangerine Daybooks. The members of this group are very talented and inspired me to try and make my own daybook.
Fall is my FAV time of year so I knew my first book would need to be Fall inspired!
*****Warning*****
This post if picture heavy! Thank you in advance if you make it all the way through the post! LOL
I just didnt want to leave any pages out!

I started with a 6x6 paper pad by My Minds Eye (Darling Dear). The overall dimension ended up being 6 1/4 X 4 1/2. The binding is hand sewn with a cotton crochet thread. I used several different elements to embellish my book so I won't list them all since this is already a long post. If there is anything you want to know please feel free to ask and I will get back to you with the details. If you are interested in making your own daybook I would highly recommend heading over to Daybook Delights, there are several great tutorials and some great inspiration by the fab members!

Dottie the Vampire

I created this very dotty card for the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog (http://saturatedcanarychallenge.blogspot.com/search/label/current%20challenge). I love joining in the fun over there because I can't get enough of Krista Smith's adorable stamps and the inspiration I find there is endless! I was excited about creating this card because the challenge was to get "Dotty" and I have always loved polka dots! I had a blast with this one!

Saturated Canary stamps are now available in rubber (so exciting!) and I recently received this rubber cutie in the mail. Her name is Vampire Rose and I wub her! and let me just go on the record saying that these stamps are of very high quality! I was able to stamp the image perfectly the first time which never happens for me! lol I can't wait to order more! I colored her with my Copic markers and then paper pieced the green part of her dress and shoes using the Bewitched matstack by DCWV. I also added Ranger's Glossy Accents to her sweet eyes :)

The sentiments and green eyeballs are by KC & Co. The eyeballs have also been treated with Ranger's Glossy Accents. The black and green stripe ribbon is by Studio G. The scalloped circles were cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilities.

I used various polka dot papers from my stash, but the papers used for the flowers are from the Bewitched matstack by DCWV. I cut them out with my big red Sizzix using the Splats die and then layered them and added the glitter center embellishment by Recollections. I used TH Distress Inks (Ripe Persimmon & Black Soot) to ink the edges.

Hopefully I covered everything! It's way past my bedtime and I'm a little loopy :) Thank you so much for looking! I hope everyone is having a great week! ((Gentle Hugs))

If you would like to shop for Saturated Canary stamps in rubber, you can find them here at Little Darling Rubber Stamps. I HIGHLY recommend them!

Renew.Reuse.Recycle.

My husband and I love shopping for antiques together and I recently started collecting old vintage train cases and small suitcases. I find that they are perfect for organizing my scrapbook/smashing supplies. I also love the unique look these items give my studio/office and being "GREEN" is a BONUS!! We try to do our part (at least that's the way I justify spending the money on my antique finds!) Lol

So my mission for the last few months has been to find a way to store my growing collection of Copic Markers. I wanted something that was functional but also portable. I like to color in various locations depending on my mood :) I also like to color in my car while waiting for the kids to get out of school (love the natural light it provides!) so I definitely needed something I could easily travel with! Anyway...I think I'm rambling! Better get on with it!

Hubby stumbled upon a local antique shop last week. He was browsing around and came across this vintage looking box.

Cool looking right?!?! I know!!

When he opened up the box he found that it was used for storing photo slides with cool plastic drawers that slide out.

Knowing that I love to reuse old vintage boxes and cases, he sent me a text with a picture attached  and asked if I was interested. What a awesome hubby!! Of course I was interested!! I immediately thought that it may work for storing my Copic Markers and if they didn't I would definitely find another use for it. As an added bonus the shop owner sold it to hubby for only $5.00!! Someone else had put a deposit on it over a year ago and never came back for it and the $5.00 was the remaining balance. I thought that was sweet of him since he could have charged full price. ((HUGS)) to that shop owner!!

So I'm sure you are dying to know....did it work for the markers?!?!?!

YES. IT. DID.

I'm so excited that I know have a portable carrying case for my Copic Markers!

For now I have left the top sliding drawer in place to hold various markers and pens. It also holds the Copic Markers underneath in place. When my Copic collection grows I can easily remove the top drawer to make room.

Anyway...sorry for the long post and the rambling! I must be lonely since the kids are back in school!!

Thank for looking! Have a great weekend! Gentle Hugs!

Oh Happy Day!

Today was one of those rare days when the house was quiet. A little to quiet! So I turned on the tunes and played! The kids are back in school so hopefully I can fit creative time back into my schedule on a regular basis!

I had a blast making this birthday card for a friend. The pattern paper is by Amy Tangerine/Sketchbook. The pink and green flags are cut from DCWV Glitzy Glitter Matstack and embossed with the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots floder. The digi image is called "Party Hardy" by Krista Smith over at Saturated Canary. I colored  her with Copic Markers and cut her out with Spellbinders Nestabilities/Big Scalloped Circles.

The pink ribbon I found at a local antique store.

I used yellow Stickles Glitter Glue on the banner :)

(Inside)

I'm going to enter this card in the Saturated Canary Challenge #24. The challenge was photo inspiration. I chose my colors based on the photo provided.

As always, thanks for looking! Hope you have a delightful week!
Gentle Hugs!

Eeeek! Copic class in MY area!

I was very excited yesterday to learn that a Copic Certification Class was going to be taught 20 minutes from my house!! I immediately submitted my application to take the class and within a couple of hours I got an email stating I had been accepted! I am over the moon about this opportunity! I immediately pulled out some of my favorite digis so I could practice :)

Smashing with Color!

This was a quick page I was able to do in between our busy summer days. I was inspired by all the colors of summer. This was my first experience coloring hair that was not brown. I was nervous at first, but had a blast doing it. I think I will try to think outside of the box more often when coloring :) I hope you like it, thanks for stopping by! Gentle Hugs!

P.S. I made this Keep Calm sign...feel free to copy it! :)

My love for coloring.....

I finally found some time among all the summer craziness to work on last weeks Smash*aholics challenge. The challenge was to use a digi and of course I headed straight for my favorite images by Krista Smith! I have been thinking about this page for a while, so this challenge gave me the nudge I needed to get it done. I LOVE Copic Markers and Krista Smith Digis......they are the perfect combo for me. I could sit and color ALL day :) Yes, I'm an adult who still loves to color! lol

Thanks for looking! I hope you have a great week and find time to create and color!

Wickedly Fun Smashing

I am a very lucky girl! My amazing husband bought us tickets to see Wicked! I had been dying to see this play for a long time.

It. Was. AMAZING.

I couldn't wait to smash about this amazing experience.
I pondered my thoughts and ideas for days......this is what I came up with :) I hope you enjoy!

On the left page is the program from the play. I knew I wanted to include it in my Smash, but it was super thick. I decided to remove all the pages from the inside of the program and Smash inside of it using the important info from the program about the play. Bonus pages! lol

The Wizard of Oz cards were cut from 12x12 scrapbook paper designed by Graphic 45. I love this line of papers and have been hoarding them for a while! This was the perfect way to use some of it!

Inside of the Wicked program. Bonus pages!!

The set design pics and performance pics I found online. I was thrilled to find them because I don't want to forget a thing about the play and the set was amazing! The cast and musical numbers info is from the original program I gutted. The music was fabulously awesome!

Thanks for looking! I hope you enjoyed the pics as much as I did creating the pages!
Happy Smashing! Hugs!

Someone Special 24 Hour Smash Challenge

I created this page for the Smash*aholics 24 hour challenge going on this weekend! There will be a total of three challenges and this is for the first challenge. The challenge was to smash about someone or something special in your life. I'm a little late posting it because I was watching my adorable niece today AND it's hubby's birthday today! I had to take a little break to treat him to dinner. We had his favorite...Sushi! Yum!

For the challenge I smashed about my special kiddos :) This picture is from several years ago, but it has always been one of my favorites! They have always been close and remained close even with the teenage years upon us! Lol!! I love that!

I made the banner with twine and Tim Holtz tissue tape. I also made the fabric yo yo and boy/girl journal tag/slider (cut from the Cricut). Thank you for looking! I hope you have a smashing weekend! Hugs!

Happy Birthday Hubby!
