Who Says Monsters Can't Be Cute?!?!

Oh how I love Frizzy Jynx! To me she is one of the cutest images by Krista Smith @ Saturated Canary! I never intended on using this Frizzy for a card. I was coloring with my 2 year old niece and wasn’t being very serious about it….just playing with color and technique since I’m fairly new to Copic coloring. In the end, I loved the way she turned out and knew I had to use her for the next Saturated Canary Challenge!

I colored Frizzy Jynx with Copics and then cut her out and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen & Iced Spruce). I used AC Cardstock, roughed it up with an old nail file and then inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen & Iced Spruce). The heart paper is from Paper Studio, B & W Doodle Hearts, also inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen & Iced Spruce). The chipboard hearts are from Maya Road, inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen & Iced Spruce) and treated with Studio G black glitter glue. The poison sign is cut out from Tim Holtz Halloween Haunts Paper Stash Kraft Resist. The memo pin is also from Tim Holtz. Yes, I love his products! The burlap, brads (also roughed up with an old nail file), and bakers twine are from my stash and have no idea where I got them, sorry! I created the sentiment, printed it, cut it, and inked it with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen & Iced Spruce).

Thanks for looking! Have a great week! Gentle hugs! TTFN

Live, Love, Laugh...Just Don't Forget Your Depends!

This is a card I made for my sister-in-laws 40th birthday. I just couldn’t resist this Bugaboo Stella Stamp (Stella Depends). The sentiment it came with just made me laugh! I’m sure I will use this one a lot J

I colored Stella with Copic markers then cut her out and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Antique Linen). The polka dot paper is from Paper Studio (Paris Apartment). The birthday paper is also from Paper Studio (Birthday Extravaganza). The purple paper is just a scrap of I don’t know what, embossed with the Cuttlebug (Swiss Dots). Flowers are Prima Flowers and brads are from Paper Studio. I inked all the edges of the paper with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain & Victorian Velvet). The turquoise ribbon I found at an antique shop in town, love the color!

Inside of card: Large polka dot paper is from Paper Studio (Paris Apartment) and the small polka dot paper is also from Paper Studio (Birthday Extravaganza). I printed out the sentiment and cut it out with the Cuttlebug using Spellbinders Label One Die. All of the above was inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain & Victorian Velvet).

I hope everyone has a fabulous week! Gentle Hugs....

My Smash/Art Journal with Steampunked Alice

One of my closest friends is amazingly talented and I'm lucky to call her my friend. I learn so much from her and she inspires me daily. She recently made me a Smash/Art journal that I will cherish always! Here are a few pics of the journal. Please click on the link to her blog to read how she created it. There are also a few more pics to check out on her blog.

The Luck of the Irish!

Ok, I have to say that I had a blast creating this card! I am going to enter it into my FIRST EVER blog challenge! Whoopee, I am so excited! It’s a doily challenge on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog. I have to say that before this challenge I was not a big fan of doilies, but after I started working with them I really got into it! The adorable little image is Frizzy Jynx by Krista Smith, the amazing artist over at Saturated Canary! I am in love with her work. I colored Frizzy with Copic markers.

I wanted to do something different with the doily, not just put it in the background of the card. I also knew I wanted to make a St. Patrick’s Day card, so I searched through my stash of Cricut Cartridges to see if I had anything for St. Patrick’s Day that might inspire me. I decided to use Cricut’s Designer’s Calendar cartridge to cut out a shamrock. After cutting the shamrock out with the Cricut I ran it through my Zyron and then adhered a 4 inch doily to it. I trimmed the edges and then inked it up using Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Iced Spruce, Evergreen Bough, and Walnut Stain). I then sprayed it with a shimmer mist for the final touch! It's hard to see glimmer mist in photo......

(inside of card)

The butterflies were punched out of an extra shamrock doily I made just in case I needed it. The shapes were created with the Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies (Labels One) and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Ink).
